The process of updating cashew farmers’ information is progressing successfully in village offices near the farmers’ fields. The exercise is being conducted under the supervision of Agricultural Officers employed by the Cashewnut Board of Tanzania under the Building a Better Tomorrow (BBT) program in collaboration with village leaders,
Mr. Khamis Burian, a cashew farmer from Shaba Village in Mtimbwilimbwi Ward, Mtwara Region, who has already updated his information, expressed his satisfaction with the process. He thanked the Cashewnut Board of Tanzania for its commitment to serving farmers. “The Board is working hard to improve cashew farming for us. Last season, I harvested six tonnes, and I expect to harvest even more in this season,” said Mr. Khamis.
Similarly, Ms. Zainabu Ismail, also a farmer from Shaba Village, shared her optimism about the update process. She expects increased yields this season, especially after receiving subsidized farming inputs provided free of charge by the government of the United Republic of Tanzania led by President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan.
The exercise is being conducted from Monday to Saturday, between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM, at village executive offices near the farmers’ fields. It officially began on February 17, 2025, and is scheduled to conclude on March 31, 2025.
