CASHEWNUT BOARD RECEIVES 3,680 TONS OF SULPHUR THROUGH MTWARA PORT

The Government through the Cashew Board has continued with efforts to get rid of the cashew farmer to increase productivity and production to reach the 10/30 agenda by 2030. The strategy of providing input subsidies that will help the farmer so that he can benefit from his crop.
Until May 25, 2023, more than 10,000 tons of Powdered Sulfur has been received to reach the target of 49,000 tons which will make a surplus of Sulfur for the next season.
Speaking at the reception of 3,680 tons of Sulfur which is part of the 10,000 tons received in the 2023/2024 season, the Regional Commisioner of Mtwara Colonel Ahmed Abbas Ahmed has congratulated the Cashew Board for achieving the government's goals and for the great effort it is making to ensure that the cashew crop benefits the farmer .
In addition, the Director General of the Cashew Board Mr.Francis Alfred has thanked the government for its efforts especially in helping the cashew farmer in the country, adding that until now a large amount of input has arrived. Water pesticides 1,300,000 Liters; Powdered Sulfur 10,189 tons and 5,000 Blowing Pipes which is more than the current needs.
He has urged farmers to continue registering in the farmers' database to help the government set the right goals for their development.
