THE REGIONAL COMMISSIONER OF LINDI LAUNCHED DISTRIBUTION OF MOTORCYCLES AND TABLETS TO BBT-CASHEW AGRICULTURAL OFFICERS

The Regional Commissioner of Lindi, Hon. Zainab Telack, has officially launched the distribution of work equipment, including 152 motorcycles and 152 tablets to agricultural officers employed by the Cashewnut Board of Tanzania under the program Building a Better Tomorrow (BBT) working in the region.

Hon. Telack urged the agricultural officers to utilize the equipment effectively to achieve the intended objectives, particularly in reclaiming abandoned farms by ensuring that farmers clear their fields. This initiative aims to reduce crop diseases and increase cashew productions.

Meanwhile, the Director General of the Cashewnut Board of Tanzania, Mr. Francis Alfred, called on the officers to oversee the fair distribution of subsidized agricultural inputs to be provided by the government of the United Republic of Tanzania, led by Her excellency President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan. He emphasized the importance of ensuring that all eligible farmers receive their rightful share to help achieve the production target of 700,000 tons in the 2025/2026 season and 1,000,000 tons by 2030.

The launch event took place on March 13, 2025, at the Lindi Regional Commissioner’s office, graced by Hon. Zainab Telack as the guest of honor and attended by other regional leaders, officials from the Cashewnut Board of Tanzania, and BBT agricultural officers.
