The Director General of the Tanzania Cashewnut Board (CBT) Mr. Francis Alfred has said that the condition of the cashewnut market inside and outside the country is good and he wants farmers and other stakeholders in the value chain to continue to manage and ensure that the cashews sent to the market have a quality that meets all the criteria in the world market.
Mr. Alfred said this on October 19, 2024 while opening the second auction of the Lindi Mwambao Cooperative Union, which was held in Tulieni village in Lindi Region.
“The state of the market this year is good, the President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan has struggled to find markets for commercial crops in the country, especially cashews,” he said.
He said that the quality of cashews will help to ensure that the price continues to be good for a long time.
He added that the good investment made by the government, including providing 100% input and on time, is what helped to increase the production and quality of cashewnuts.
At the same time, he asked the farmers to continue taking care of their fields, including reviving the wild cashewnut fields.
