The Cashewnut Board of Tanzania (CBT) is a corporate body established by the Act No. 21 of 1984 (As amended in 1993) to replace Tanzania Cashewnut Marketing Board. It is entrusted with the responsibility of regulating the development of the Cashew Industry in Tanzania. In undertaking its mandated roles the Cashewnut Board puts more emphasis in improving efficiency and effectiveness in the cashewnut sub sector in order to meet requirements of different stakeholders thereby enabling them to contribute to the national development.
The Medium Term Strategic Plan (MTSP) provides a framework for improved services delivery in the Board by introducing performance based management systems.
The plan is guided by the aspirations of the Tanzania Development vision 2025 which aims for high quality livelihood, peace, stability and unity, good governance, well educated society and a strong and competitive economy. It is committed to the MKUKUTA framework and the Agriculture Sector Development Programmes (ASDP).
The Strategic Plan Intends to assist CBT to efficiently organize itself to provide quality services in the future in a sustainable manner.
It is also anticipated that improvement in CBT performance will have a multiplier effect across the Cashewnut Sub Sector.
It is therefore our expectation that the Strategic Plan will enable the Cashewnut Board to organize itself to improve quality efficiency, effectiveness and performance of services on a continuous basis and sustain this gain in the longer term.
