2024 CASHEW INDUSTRY STAKEHOLDERS’ MEETING

Minister of Agriculture, Hon. Hussein Bashe (Mb) has opened the 2024 General Meeting of Cashew Industry Stakeholders today on August 22, 2024 and encouraged the industry’s stakeholders that the Government will continue with its strategies to establish a system to manage the extraction in the country.

He has added that the sale of cashew nuts to go abroad has started for the first time, especially in European countries.

Minister Bashe has thanked the leaders of the regions and districts that grow cashews including Mtwara, Lindi, Tanga, Pwani, Dodoma and Singida, farmers, traders and stakeholders in the supply chain of the cashew industry for participating in the important meeting held at the PSSSF Building, Dodoma region .

And the Director General of the Cashew Board, Mr. Francis Alfred has explained that the goals of the industry are to increase cashew production from 310,000 tons in 2023/2024 to 1,000,000 tons in 2030 in order to increase the value of the crop, expand the scope of markets in the domestic market, Asia, the Middle East and United States.

In addition, it has been stated by the Director General of the Tanzania Agricultural Research Institute (TARI) Dr. Thomas Bwana that various studies to improve the cashew crop, seeds, pesticides are ongoing to increase the quality of cashew according to the needs of the target markets.
