It has been stated that a total of 180,342 tons of cashewnuts have been sold in the 2024/2025 season within three weeks of auctions compared to 60,066 tons that were sold by the third week in the previous season.
This has been said by the director general of the Cashewnut Board of Tanzania Mr. Francis Alfred when he was talking to journalists about the trend of sales and the raw cashewnut market in the 2024/2025 season until October 30, 2024.
Also Mr. Alfred has noted that currently the average price in the market is Tsh. 3200 per kilo compared to 1850 shillings per kilo in the previous season.
“The increase in production and the price of cashewnuts has brought motivation to farmers and therefore many farmers send their cashewnuts to the associations early to benefit from the current price” said Mr. Alfred.
In addition, the Director General of the Cashewnut Board of Tanzania has thanked the government of the sixth phase led by President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan for various efforts including the provision of 100% input subsidies as well as improving the markets of agricultural products.
