The President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Hon. Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, has participated in important international discussions about agriculture in Africa which is the Africa Agriculture Dialogue (AAD) organized by the African Development Bank (AfDB); and the Norman E. Borlaug International Debate, organized by the World Food Foundation in Des Moines, Iowa, USA, on October 30, 2024.
In his speeches, Hon. President Dr. Samia has explained the various steps taken by Tanzania to become a major producer of food for self-sufficiency as a nation and to sell surplus food commercially (feed ourselves, feed others commercially). In addition, Hon. President Dr. Samia noted how the country is strengthening food production systems by using modern technologies to achieve these goals as a nation.
The meetings were also attended by the Minister of Agriculture, Hon. Hussein Bashe (Mb); Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation, Natural Resources and Livestock of Zanzibar, Hon. Shamata Shaame Khamis (Mb); and Secretary General of the Ministry of Agriculture, Mr. Gerald Mweli.
