The cashewnut industry in Tanzania has continued to be one of the important industry in contributing to the country’s economy. The government has invested in improving transport along with the provision of free inputs to farmers. This has helped increase the quality of cashews, thus increasing the farmers and other stakeholders in the value chain.
The increase in the price of cashewnuts in this 2024/2025 season has brought benefits to Tanzania, as the country produces and sells cashews in large quantities, especially in international markets. This situation has increased employment and improved the lives of cashewnut farmers, especially in Lindi, Mtwara and Ruvuma regions.
However, the government has announced improvements to improve the market, in order to meet the challenges of selling products at low prices, thus enabling it to continue to have great success.
On December 4, 2024, a meeting was held between those who sell cashews abroad and the leadership of the Cashewnut Board of Tanzania discussing how to protect the local ones in the world market and many other issues related to the cashew industry for this 2024/2025 season.
The meeting was held at the offices of the Cashewnut Board of Tanzania led by the Director of Marketing and Quality Control Mr. Revelian S. Ngaiza.
