While the cashew auctions are going on, the director of the Cashewnut Board of Tanzania, Mr. Francis Alfred Alfred, has asked cashew farmers in the country to continue to maintain the quality of cashews to ensure that the price of raw cashews continues to be good.
Mr. Alfred said this during the first auction of the main cooperative members of Mtwara, Masasi and Nanyumbu (MAMCU) held in Nakachindu Village in Masasi district in Mtwara region 14 october 2024.
In that auction, farmers sold their cashews at a high price of Tsh 4195 and a low price of Tsh 3440, a total of 18,000 tons were sold through the Tanzania commodity market system (TMX).
Expressing their joy of selling their cashews at a high price after several years, they thanked president Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan for the provision of free inputs, which has enabled them to get a good production of cashews in this 2024/2025 season.
They have also thanked the Minister of Agriculture Hussein Bashe for managing and ensuring the instructions of the President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan to raise cashew farmers are being implemented properly.
