RUNALI FARMERS SOLD THEIR CASHEWS AT A HIGH PRICE OF TSH 2,610 AND A LOW PRICE OF TSH 2,460

Cashew farmers under the RUNALI Cooperative Union, which brings together the districts of Ruangwa, Nachingwea and Liwale in Lindi Region, have sold a total of 20,630 tonnes of raw cashewnuts during the first auction held on November 10, 2025. In this auction, cashews were sold at a highest price of Tanzania shillings 2,610 and a lowest price of Tanzania shillings 2,460 per kilogram.

Speaking after the auction, which was conducted through the Tanzania Mercantile Exchange (TMX), the Director General of the Cashewnut Board of Tanzania (CBT), Mr. Francis Alfred, congratulated RUNALI farmers for successfully selling all their cashews. He also urged them to continue maintaining high quality standards to attract better markets and competitive prices.

On his part, the District Commissioner of Ruangwa, Hon. Hassan Ngoma, encouraged RUNALI farmers to keep prioritizing quality so that prices continue to rise. He also advised them to use their earnings wisely to improve their livelihoods and contribute to community development. This auction is the third since the opening of the 2025/2026 marketing season in Tandahimba District, Mtwara Region, through the TANECU Cooperative Union, and the second to be held in Lindi Region following the LINDI MWAMBAO auction
