The Regional Commissioner of Mtwara, Colonel Patrick Sawala, has expressed his optimism that the Cashew Master Training program in the Cashew Value Chain being conducted in Mtwara that the Cashew Master Training program in the Cashew Value Chain being conducted in Mtwara Region will benefit participants and experts by enhancing their experience and exposing them to different approaches in cashew production.
Colonel Sawala made these remarks during the opening of the training program, which brings together participants from eight African countries that cultivate and utilize cashew nuts. These countries include Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, Mozambique, Rwanda, Ghana, South Sudan, and Zambia.
The Director General of the Cashewnut Board of Tanzania, Mr. Francis Alfred, also remarked that the quality of cashewnuts produced in Tanzania is among the best, both in Africa and globally, when compared to those grown in other countries.
Mr. Alfred emphasized that the Cashewnut Board of Tanzania is committed to maintaining the quality of cashews produced in the country by striving to increase production to 700,000 metric tons by the 2025/2026 season and reaching 1,000,000 metric tons by 2030.
These were highlighted during the opening session of the Cashew Master Training program in the Cashew Value Chain, held at the Bank of Tanzania Conference Hall in Mtwara Region.
