Some cashew farmers from the Mayanga Agricultural Marketing Cooperative Society (Mayanga AMCOS), located in Mayanga Ward, Mtwara Region, have expressed their gratitude to the Sixth Phase Government led by Her Excellency President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan for providing agricultural inputs in a timely manner.
The farmers stated that receiving the inputs on time will significantly support their production activities during the 2025/2026 farming season, giving them hope for better yields and improved economic well-being.
Mr. Yusuph Aziz, who is receiving subsidized inputs from the cooperative for the third time, said that in the previous two occasions when he received the inputs, his cashew production increased notably. He is therefore optimistic about harvesting even more in the upcoming season.
Ms. Asha Issa, a resident of Mikindani, also thanked the government for ensuring that farmers receive inputs on time, noting that timely delivery reduces uncertainty and gives farmers confidence since they already have the necessary inputs at home.
The distribution of subsidized inputs for cashew farming is part of the government’s broader strategy to boost the cashew industry and improve productivity among farmers. The goal is to increase national production to 700,000 tonnes by the 2025/2026 season.
